Getting a renewable energy installation can feel daunting and confusing but it doesn’t have to be. URE and Focus on Energy recommend a preliminary site assessment be performed for all solar installions and are required for wind energy installations. These provide critical information for our design and installation team and are there for the best interest of the customer as well. Analysis and Proposal
Congratulations! You’ve completed your first step in obtaining energy independence and Green energy. Having a RE system installed is a very similar process to most construction projects and is not an overnight process. While there is an obvious window in which the project should be completed, we take the time to check and recheck our proposal and works in progress for accuracy and quality as well as your comfort throughout the process. Focus on Energy recommends seeking proposals from 2-3 different installers to ensure your trust in the installer, quality and efficiency in the installation, and your level of tolerance for quality and reliability over cost. Most companies would not advertise this but both our past clients and we are confident in your selection of URE to complete your project to your satisfaction. At this point you will want to provide each installer a copy of your assessment and they in turn will complete a proposal for you to compare and contrast. Ask questions about how and why they have made their recommendations and estimates on your proposed system. We offer as much information as possible, both in the proposal and through conversation, to earn your confidence in trusting your project to us. The proposal will reflect the findings of your assessment, suggestions to alterations of the general system requirements, and a completed project cost for you to make your decision. Remember to keep your assessment and proposals separate for consideration. The assessment is your tool for comparing the proposals you receive. Again, any deviation from the assessment values should be questioned to ensure your understanding of each proposal and to help you reach the finial decision on your installer. While your assessment provides a general guideline in size, output, and cost of your system, there are many variables that go into achieving those figures as well as the overall appearance and function of your system. Your installer will usually have a standard brand or type of equipment they are confident in and trust. However, they have many brands, styles, mounting and installing options, performance, and cost options to choose from to best design your system around your assessment recommendations. Quality installers/designers will usually reflect quality products and clean, well constructed past project installations. Please note: Large or Complex projects may require more resources to determine the best available options and there are feasibility or implementation grants in place that may help pay for the cost of a more in-depth study. Again, if you have questions, ask away. Once completed, we are ready to move onto permitting and incentive processing.
Permitting and Incentive Processing
The most arduous part of the process, P&I relies heavily on the speed and approval of multiple government or financial processes. URE takes great pride in our knowledge of incentives available and permitting required prior to beginning construction. Our ability to expedite the process with accurate and correctly completed documents the first time around, ensures only the speed of governmental process will affect when we can begin the construction process. Once all approvals are in place, we are ready to begin. Applications for financial incentives can be confusing and quite complex. The incentive providers may require things such as technical reports, environmental impact studies, consideration in the purchase of specific components and disposition of parts after their useful life. We can help by preparing these reports, and handing them off to the applicant (the client)–ready to submit along with the customer’s financial reports. Information about current incentives for which you may be eligible can be found at www.dsireusa.org (database for State Incentives for Renewables & Efficiency). This site is kept up-to-date, but may not tell you about new incentives that have not been officially introduced or announced to the general public. We can guide customers to resources such as accountants to help prepare financial reports, and lenders who are willing to work with clients regarding short-term loans to pay for a system until the other financial incentives pay out after installation.

We also specialize in difficult installations and are known for our reputation of low-impact construction processes to limit our interruption of your business or facility and minimize spoilage to your property or landscaping. From start to finish, your installation area will be kept tidy and organized prior to leaving the site at the end of the work day. Likewise, we devote as much time as needed to returning the property to it’s original appearance and remove all waste for proper disposal. Throughout the process we constantly review our work for accuracy, attention to detail, and overall aesthetics. If at any point the client has a question about the process or concerns about interruptions to their daily processes, we will provide answers or stop work until an acceptable solution has been found. Service and Ongoing Support Options
An average residential installation can take between 2 days and 2 weeks, depending on the complexity of the project. Larger installations are solely dependent on the size and complexity of the system. URE warranties our workmanship for a period of one-year after the installation. The workmanship of most system components is covered for one year, and for 15-25 years by a manufacturer’s performance warranty. All installations are followed up for one year with routine maintenance calls based upon the manufacturer’s recommended maintenance schedule. Customers are educated about their systems and are guided through troubleshooting and maintenance procedures once the system is installed, and through the first year after the installation. Long-term inspection and maintenance contracts are also available after that one-year period.
